Wix and Dreamworks Team Up For an Epic 2016 Super Bowl Spot
By Top 10 Staff
With finger-numbing weather outside and the groundhog enjoying some R&R before his big debut, it’s time for every true, red-blooded American’s favorite pastime. Oh, not the Super Bowl. Sure we love a good football game, but truth is, we’re just as (if not more) excited to see the hot lineup of 2016 Super Bowl commercials. From hilarious to heartwarming, these commercials draw the biggest crowds, and this year, Wix joins Dreamworks for a debut that’s sure to be entertaining. So grab your Chex Mix and beer, and settle down for some good old American commercials.
Wix - It’s That Easy
Everyone remembers Wix’s last Super Bowl ad. Chock-full of football personalities like Brett Favre, Emmitt Smith, and Larry Allen, the "It’s That Easy" campaign showed the world just how easy it is to build a website using Wix. Hey, if Franco Harris can do it, so can you! This campaign was a smart play by Wix, bringing millions of new visitors to their front door.
This year, has made a major move partnering with Dreamworks, one of the most well-known animated film producers. Omer Shai, CMO of Wix, said it was an obvious choice since the companies shared brand values and personalities, and besides, it’s Dreamworks! The world waits in wonder to see what this Dynamic Duo has in store.
With 13 million+ customers, GoDaddy is the largest web hosting site and a household name, and their Super Bowl ads over the last decade have certainly contributed to this standing. From bizarre to vulgar, has produced some of the raciest ads ever featured, and that has secured a permanent place in America’s minds. The company featured huge names in their humorous, if not off-colored ads, like model Bar Refaeli and racing driver Danica Patrick.
Unfortunately, GoDaddy decided to retire its jersey from the Super Bowl ad collection, saying goodbye to the multi-million viewer audience that comes along with a Super Bowl spot. America will miss the controversial humor, but competition like Wix is happy not to share the spotlight.
Squarespace - A Better Website Awaits
Squarespace is a growing website builder, and great competition for the industry. Taking a major financial risk in 2014, this small potatoes company ran their first Super Bowl ad, and it was a smash hit. The comical, and jarringly realistic, spoof on what the Internet is in contrast to what it could be with your better website from Squarespace was well-done, earning the company scores of new users, and reason enough to return in 2015.
2015’s ad was even less candid, promoting Jeff Bridge’s sleep meditation album, with not a mention of Squarespace. The message, explains Anthony Casalena, Squarespace CEO, was that any idea, “no matter how wild or weird, can be presented beautifully and meaningfully through Squarespace.” With such innovative concepts, Americans can’t wait to see what Squarespace is dishing out in 2016.
With Coldplay lined up as the halftime entertainment, and the Seahawks, Patriots, and Panthers looking like favorites for the big game, football fans across the country are getting ready for an epic Super Bowl series.
